Venetian craftmen use specialized tools in the making of their glass. Some of these tools include borselle (tongs or pliers used to hand-form the red-hot glass), canna da soffio (blowing pipe), pontello (an iron rod to which the craftsman attaches the glass after blowing to add final touches), scagno (the glass-master’s work bench) and taglianti (large glass-cutting clippers).

‘Vetro a lume’ (Lampworking) consists in the treatment of a solid glass cane that is shaped and heated on the flame of a spout fueled by gas and oxygen in order to obtain small figures, objects or decorated beads.

Only by making this process known will people be able to understand the real value of the glass pieces made by the Master of Glass.
